El Salvador Santa Emilia Estate is a light to medium roast with a sweet floral aroma and hints of lemon and tangerine. Additional notes of toasted sugar cane and milk chocolate. This coffee is 100% Bourbon from two distinct varieties.
Farm History: Santa Emilia Estate has been in the Homberger family for 3 generations and was Rainforest Alliance certified in 2006. Santa Emilia is practicing sustainable farming methods and does not use herbicides on the farm, rather "noble herbs" for soil amendments and to keep weeds at bay. The farm also promotes social responsibility.
Santa Emilia won the rigorous competition, the “Cup of Excellence”, in 2018 for this coffee. In preparation, Santa Emilia selected their coffee cherries from the peak period of a three day harvest when the fruit is almost purple and known as "Sangre de Toro”.
